Bill Grossman – March 2022

Q: When did you first join R4R and how did you learn about us?

A: My wife, Denette, came home from work one night and said that we were going to join the Runnin’ for Rhett group. She and Randy worked at the Sacto Bee at the time, and we all played softball in the Media League. We were part of the 35 family and friends that donned the first baby blue running shirts the year after Beth ran her first Shamrock’n.

Q: As a long-time supporter of the Capitol Beer Fest, what does being involved in this event mean to you?

A: It’s all about the end result of where all the proceeds go after the event, back into the community in the form of “After School Youth Fitness Programs.”

Q: Describe yourself in 25 words or less.

A: Fun-loving, hard-working, caring father and husband. Enjoying life to its fullest.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of Runnin’ for Rhett?

A: It’s being part of a huge extended family and all of the friendships that I have developed over the years that I have been involved with R4R.

Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?

A: Well, no unusual job, but I have been involved over my years in the craft beer business in helping build up sales with two breweries located here in California, Lost Coast Brewing in Eureka and Federation Brewing in Oakland.

Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?

A: This experience, if you take it to heart, will help guide you in your journey in life. It will eventually put you on the path to a healthy lifestyle and a positive outlook on life itself.

Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?

A: In the past few years, Denette and I have gotten into growing seasonal vegetables in our backyard. It’s so much fun digging in the dirt and enjoying the end results.

Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?

A: Being involved in securing R4R participation in the very first “Capitol Beer Fest” and as the years have progressed it is now our largest fundraising event …. PS: also being a pace group leader for Run 2 / Walk 2 group that has the “Best Group Picture Ever.”

Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?

A: Hops and yes, it is classified as a vegetable – Actually it is a very pretty vine in the mulberry plant family. In some parts of the world, they grow as decorative ornamental vines but most countries grow hops just to make beer. I have been in the beer biz most of my adult life so hops would be my choice if I were a vegetable.
