Q: When did you first join R4R, and how did you learn about us?
A: Fall Season of 2014, my sister was a member at that time, and had been talking about R4R for a while and encouraged me to join (most know her as Annie Peabody).
Q: Describe yourself in 25 words or less.
A: I’m going to need more words than that. I talk a lot. But in summary, I’d say hard-working, happy, positive-outlook, driven, mom, and wife.
Q: What’s your favorite “Movin’ into Life” activity?
A: I would say walking almost any day. I really love the walking challenges with R4R.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of Runnin’ for Rhett?
A: The community. I’ve met some really great people, and I’m glad to call them my friends. Even if I don’t feel like running/training, you show up at a Saturday workout, and there are some friendly faces happy to see you. That alone gives you energy and the necessary boost to get through any run.
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: Tie between when I interned at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in 2011, and as a government intern in Washington, D.C. in 2013, both while I was in college. They were both highly educational and the only times I’ve ever moved away from my hometown.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
A: Free time? I don’t know what that is. I work full time and am a mother of twins :). But when I do get some time to myself, I like listening to music, singing or enjoying a movie night/night out with my husband.
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: I have lots of ways I’d describe R4R, but to a child, I’d say, “this is your opportunity to run really, really fast with all your friends, which will help form good habits that you may continue all throughout your life.”
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
A: I have been a diehard Celine Dion fan since the movie Titanic came out when I was in the 3rd grade. She was my first concert in Las Vegas when I was 16 years old.
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: Completing six (6) half-marathons! This blows my mind because I used to hate running a mile in PE in high school. My first half was my third proudest moment – I cried when I crossed the finish line! My second proudest was crossing the finish line when I was 5 weeks pregnant (I found out the week before). My proudest was crossing the finish line of the Shamrock’n a few weeks ago with my husband and twin girls cheering me on at the end!
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: I’d be a bell pepper. You are what you eat – and I eat them a lot. Plus they are really colorful, almost like mood rings. I feel like my husband would agree that a vegetable in a variety of colors similar to a mood ring would be an accurate description of me.
