MaraFUNrun

EVENT INFORMATION

Runnin’ for Rhett hosts the MaraFUNrun in Land Park this year! 3,000 youth athletes from the Sacramento area take part in a 5K race celebrating the completion of six weeks of participation in our after-school Youth Fitness Program. You can support our local youth by joining us! Register to run, walk, or jog with the kids in our community 5K, volunteer your time, come out to cheer, or make a donation to help keep our Youth Fitness Program free for these youth athletes. It’s also the perfect shake-out before the big Marathon on Sunday.

General Packet Pick Up

Packet pick up will be on-site race morning at Land Park, near the start line at Freeport & Sutterville, starting at 7:30am. Your packet will include your bib number and shirt.

NOTE: ALL participating Youth Fitness students will get their packet from their coach. If during registration you selected a school affiliation, your packet will be given to your child by way of their coach. If you did NOT select a school, you will need to pick up your packet on race morning in Land Park.

Our mission is to inspire and enable our youth to Move Into Life through our after school running program where we train with and educate students on the value, benefits, and fun associated with adopting a healthy and active lifestyle. It migrates to their parents as well, many of whom participate in both the training as well as one of our culminating 5K events, the Run Because You Can in April, and the maraFUNrun in December.

  • We’re sorry, but pets are not allowed (service dogs ok). While we realize it is fun for both you and your pet to run/walk together, this policy has been established by both our insurance company and us for safety reasons.

  • The race will have one aid station with water and a restroom about half way through the course.

  • Each 5K participant will be issued a “bib” with his/her number on it. On the back of each bib is a disposable timing chip. This timing chip is encoded with the athlete’s name and race number. The computer chip allows for the most accurate race time. To be sure timing is accurate, please do not fold your bib and be sure to wear it on the front of your body.

  • We do permit baby joggers/strollers for this event, but we ask that you start at the back of the pack. This is for your safety and the safety of those around you.

  • We discourage the use of music devices that may limit you ability to hear what is going on around you. We love music, but we want you to be safe. Headphones impair your ability to hear the directions of volunteers and police on the course, emergency vehicles, and other runners around you. If you do elect to wear headphones, we ask that you only wear them in one ear or keep the volume at a level that allows you to hear what is happening around you.
