Q: When did you first join R4R and how did you learn about us?
A: Pretty sure I originally joined in 2014, or at least that is the earliest shirt that I know of. I started running in 2013 and the first race I did was the Turkey Trot in Elk Grove. If I remember right, I got a handout that talked about the group and I thought it was cool that I could join a group to help me run a 10k which was my next running goal.
Q: Describe yourself in 25 words or less.
A: I am easy going and love to learn and experience new things, even if it is a little scary sometimes.
Q: What’s your very favorite “Movin’ into Life” activity?
A: My favorite activity is running and walking with the group. Especially being able to talk with other members and get to know them better.
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: I don’t know that I have ever had a usual job, but one of the most interesting was probably working as a Security Guard. I got to work in a lot of different environments from hospitals to office buildings and while it was mostly boring, I did have to testify in court for a theft I discovered.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
A: Besides running, which takes up a lot of free time, I also compete in practical shooting matches on a regular basis.
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
A: I once jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. When I was much younger my friend talked me into doing a tandem jump. Overall, it was an amazing experience, but I don’t think I would do it again.
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: I think its hard to pick one moment. I feel proud when I work hard towards completing a goal race and can see improvement from previous events.
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: I can’t say I’ve really ever considered what kind of vegetable I would be, but if I had to pick one I would say an onion. Onions may not be the main component of a dish, but they add flavor to pretty much anything you add it to.
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: I would say that Runnin’ for Rhett is like recess, you get some exercise in and then get to hang out with your friends.
