Q: When did you first join R4R and how did you learn about us?
A: I needed help and support to get back into running, so I searched half marathon training on the web, and up popped R4R. I joined R4R in July to join the training program for the Urban Cow half-marathon.
Q: Describe yourself in 25 words or less.
A: I need exercise in my life to remain ‘sane’ 😊. R4R allows me to remain active and help children, women, and men receive the great benefits that I get from exercise. It’s great to be a part of this group of positive people.
Q: How was your experience completing your first half marathon at this year’s Urban Cow? Do you have any races planned in the future?
A: I love the excitement and the morale on race day and Urban Cow didn’t disappoint. The race was even better with fellow friends I trained with the last 2 months. The support and joy of finishing was a huge highlight for this year. I plan on racing the Shamrock’n in March and a few trail runs along the way
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: My most interesting job was being an event planner at the Amazon corporate headquarters, in Seattle. Catering and event planning on steroids! I’m grateful for the opportunity.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
A: I like DIY projects big or small, my current project is refurbishing my outdoor furniture for my backyard. Road trips are my other favorite pastimes. Pick a spot and just go. Dinner/Brunch parties are my other favorite thing. Food brings people together for celebrations and ‘just because.’
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
A: I was a missionary from the age of 15 to 19 years of age. I’m no longer in the religious organization and have lived a new life for the last 25 years.
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: Finished what I started. I started the training and I finished the race. Half the battle with running is not allowing the voice in your head to stop.
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: I would be an avocado. Who doesn’t love fresh tortilla chips, salsa, and homemade guacamole?
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: Do you wanna play outside and have fun? Want to be strong and get some really cool friends? Join us and I’ll show you.
