Q: When did you first join R4R and how did you learn about us?
A: I first joined R4R in December 2017. I learned about Rhett because of my relationship with Lisa O’Shea. She had told me about the group and recommended I join but I held off because I was afraid it was too serious of a group for me. Later, I decided to give it a trial run with my friend Alida to see if we liked it.
Q: Describe yourself in 25 words or less.
A: I am grateful for so many things in my life. I am very strong in my faith and I love the Lord Jesus Christ.
Q: What’s your very favorite “Movin’ into Life” activity?
A: I love to run! I love the positivity of it, especially at a race. But I also love Pickleball and many of my running friends also love Pickleball. So, it’s a double whammy.
Q: What was your favorite subject in school?
A: Math… I now teach 6th grade math and science.
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: I was in sales after college, and I sold wholesale gifts. A major product I sold was Trolls.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
A: I love to read and work at a farm that is fairly close to my house.
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
A: I used to have my private pilot’s license.
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: My proudest moment was qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 2023. I am still trying to get accepted into the Boston Marathon, so I am trying to qualify again this March in the Napa Marathon. Nancy Lesdema has been helping with a training plan and tips to get my speed up. I need to lower my finishing time by another 4 minutes, God willing.
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: I would be a zucchini because they are versatile in the ways you can cook them. You can make a delicious zucchini bread or a hearty zucchini boat or a simple side dish grilled or sauteed.
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: Runnin’ For Rhett is a great organization that helps kids experience achievement by running a race in the name of someone who couldn’t. It’s a great purpose and it’s fun. They are going to love it, and it will be something they will never forget. They will be so proud of themselves and have fun cheering others on too. Runnin’ for Rhett has changed my life, and I know it will change theirs too.
