Q: When did you first join Runnin for Rhett and how did you learn about us?
A: I joined R4R back in 2018. I heard about it through a good friend and coworker of mine. We started attending meetups together. She got injured and had to stop, and I continued on and never looked back! I am grateful that she introduced me to this amazing group!
Q: Provide an example of one of the most inspiring moments you’ve experienced as a coach for our R4R Youth Program.
A: The first moment is actually many moments. I am inspired by the kiddos that join R4R, some love running and others have never run before. They join the program and are fully committed and motivated to run the 5K. Then I get to see their smiles as they cross the finish line with their families. They are so proud of themselves and what they have accomplished. It is truly inspiring.
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: Well…..I guess I really love food because my jobs were all food-related. I worked at a mini-mart in high school. I got to enjoy many delicious corn dogs, mojos, and burritos. Then my second job in food was working at an ice cream/yogurt/coffee shop in college. I had many meals of frozen yogurt and lattes 🙂
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
A: I LOVE going to concerts and listening to live music. I also LOVE going to sporting events and cheering on my fave team, the Dodgers. I enjoy any activity that is near a beach/lake/river, hiking, going to the movies (I love scary movies), wine tasting, trying out a new brewery, going out to eat, and spending time with my family.
Q: What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
A: My dad is a farmer and grows pistachios. I also LOVE music, especially Reggae and Hip Hop. (I’ve seen Snoop four times.)
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: I am most proud of completing two marathons. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would run one, let alone two. I never could have accomplished this without my R4R family.
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: I would be a potato. Most people like you, you are very versatile, you can be eaten at any meal, and you can be used to make vodka. 🙂
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: I would tell them that at first when I started R4R I felt nervous and felt out of my comfort zone. I had always exercised and ran on my own, but as I went to meetups and got to know people, I felt instantly welcomed and part of the group. It made me realize just how important and motivating it is to run and train with others. It has not only taught me the importance of fitness and running but how important it is to be around people that truly support you.
