With Mother’s Day this past Sunday, our Member Spotlight this month features a mom and her daughters who share the Runnin’ for Rhett “Movin’ Into Life” experience together. Meet the Clifford women, Sherry, Shelby, and Sami, and be inspired by their stories!
Sherry
Q: As a mother, what does it mean to you to be participating in Runnin’ for Rhett’s Adult Fitness program with your daughters?
A: I love being able to spend time with my daughters. Exercising together gives us time to talk and build lasting memories. Being heart-smart together is such a gift.
Q: What are you most proud of when it comes to your daughters?
A: It is hard to narrow down what I am most proud of. I have two of the best daughters around! Both are strong and determined. They set goals and achieve them. Sami has such a kind spirit and a great sense of humor. Shelby is determined and wise beyond her years. Both are just good people.
Q: Share something that most people don’t know about you.
A: Most of you probably don’t know that I have a son who is equally as awesome as his sisters! His name is Joey.
Q: What do you enjoy most about the Adult Fitness program?
A: Runnin’ for Rhett has allowed me to be accountable to myself to exercise and be heart-healthy for myself and my kids. The group itself is great because nobody judges how fast I walk or how far I walk. It’s great to have a place where I can walk and have people encourage me to be me. I have tried gyms in the past and never felt like I “fit” in. The group at Runnin’ for Rhett has always been welcoming and encouraging. It really keeps me moving!

Q: What does it mean to you to be participating in Runnin’ for Rhett’s Adult Fitness program with your mother?
A: Exercising as a family means a lot to me. Even though we each have our different levels of fitness it is a great way to get each other motivated to get moving.
Q: Please share a few words about your mom in honor of Mother’s Day?
A: My mom is hands down the best mom a daughter could ask for. She is caring, loving and the perfect role model to show how to be the most selfless human being.
Q: Share something that most people don’t know about you.
A: Some people may not know that I have been a vegetarian for 18 years. I was in the first grade and told my parents, “I am not eating anything with eyeballs.” They always found alternatives for me at the dinner table.
Q: What do you enjoy most about the Adult Fitness program?
A: I enjoy the camaraderie every time I participate in an R4R activity. The friendly faces keep me motivated to keep moving in baby blue.
