Staci Kesler:
Q: When did you first join R4R and how did you learn about us?
A: I first joined R4R in August 2024 when I began training for the Urban Cow Half Marathon. I saw the Blue Crew at Shamrock’n last year, and I was drawn to the tag line on the shirts: Grow Together in Fitness and Friendship! Those were both something I wanted to grow in my life, so when I signed up for the half I looked into R4R!
Q: You and your husband, Brian, are both Runnin’ for Rhett members. What do you enjoy most about the two of you doing this together?
A: It has been fun to go to events together and to volunteer together! We look forward to more opportunities to volunteer this year!
Q: What have you enjoyed most about being a part of the Blue Crew?
A: I have enjoyed the Monday night Sacramento group! Soups or salad depending on the seasons at Track 7 has been such a welcoming group!!
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: I worked at the Sacramento Crisis Nursery providing care for children and resources to families in crisis in the Sacramento area. It’s such a wonderful resource!
Q: How do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies of note?
A: The last few years Brian and I have been doing long walks (6-10 miles) together most weekends. It was a great opportunity to spend time together, especially during the craziness of the pandemic. A year or so ago, I discovered CityStrides and found a new goal for our downtown walks- to walk all the streets of downtown Sacramento! I finished walking or running all the streets of downtown in December 2024!
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
A: My favorite workout is to run the stairs on the West Sac levy across from Old Sacramento! I do each staircase multiple times and run the distance between them! There are 6 different flights of stairs if you don’t count the staircase to the train bridge (the sketchiest stairs in Sacramento!!)
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: This year, we ran the Roseville Turkey Trot with 3 of our 5 kids! It was such a fun time and what a great chance to be active with our kids!
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: I would be a Belgian Endive! It’s unexpected, has many layers, and is wonderful!
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: R4R is a group of friends who all love to be together, cheer each other on, and run around like crazy!
