Director of Youth Programs

Larisa Perryman

Hometown: Santa Clarita, CA
Education: UC Davis
First Job: Cashier at Office Depot
Inspiration: Rhett’s story — Whenever I am in pain or am moving really slowly during training or a race, I just remember that Rhett couldn’t run or walk even though he wanted to, and I can definitely keep moving forward, no matter what.
Why you’re passionate about Runnin’ for Rhett: Runnin’ for Rhett is comprised of some of the best people I have ever met. I enjoy learning everyone’s stories of how they are moving into life, and I love how selfless our volunteers are when they give countless hours that ultimately result in our Youth Fitness Program’s success! Being a part of this group makes me a better person!
Pet Peeves: When someone leaves time on the microwave.

Director of Development

Lindsay DaRosa

First Job: Vintage Bean (Coffee Shop)
Inspiration: Everyone has an incredible life story and I am inspired by people who keep on going no matter what.  I am also inspired by people who give back and help others.  I truly believe that is what we are here to do in our lives.
Why you’re passionate about Runnin’ for Rhett:  I am passionate about Runnin’ for Rhett because I was that kid who could have benefited so much from a program like this when I was younger.  I love how kids are taught about health and fitness at a young age which they can carry with them throughout their entire life.
Pet Peeves: People who don’t take responsibility for their actions and blame everything on someone else.

Director of Adult Programs

Gina Schauland

Hometown: Moorpark, CA
Education: UC Santa Barbara
First Job: Macy’s
Inspiration: Adventuring somewhere new, meeting new people who are passionate about what they do, learning new skills and tips on how to perform better.
Why you’re passionate about Runnin’ for Rhett: I am inspired and encouraged by what people can do if they put their mind to something and go for it! I’ve never been a go-getter when to fitness but as I age, I feel so much better when I workout. I am excited to be inspired and hope to inspire others. I also was not into PE as a kid because it was not fun for me. I never played any sports nor did I run because I didn’t have role models who encouraged me to get involved. It is so uplifting to see kids and their coaches from all schools from all backgrounds out running their own races. It makes my heart happy.
Pet Peeves: If I commit to something, I’ll be there, my pet peeve is when people say they will do something and then they don’t do it. I also don’t like it when people are late without a really good excuse.  I think it stems from my family always being late for everything and me missing out on the fun stuff. I have FOMO really bad and don’t want to miss out.

Satyashree Pandey

Occupation: Director, Information Technology, Blue Shield of California
Hometown: Chennai, India
Education: University of Madras; California State University, Sacramento; University of Arizona
First Job: Hindi language tutor
Board Emphasis: Volunteers & Resource Development
Inspiration: Simply put: doing good, human’s ability to transform from adversity, helping young adults not only survive, but live and thrive.
Why you’re passionate about Runnin’ for Rhett: I grew up with a special needs older brother and 50 years ago in Chennai, India, I grew up watching my parents struggle to raise a child with special needs with no support or positivity from family, society, school systems, or government agencies. When I saw how Beth and Randy transformed Rhett’s memory into something so fantastic, inspiring, and positive, I was floored, and I wanted to be part of this organization to give back in any way I can. The only regret I have is I took this long to reach out and do something about it.
Pet Peeves: Drama, people’s penchant for bringing politics and drama into their work and interpersonal relationships. I would rather focus on the intention/outcome and achieve all that we could as a collective group.
