Q: When did you first join R4R and how did you learn about us?
A: The Seevers and I have been friends for many years and I was fortunate enough to know Rhett personally. Although I didn’t run with Beth and Randy until about the third year, I was part of the group (board member) when Runnin’ for Rhett was founded. I remember sitting around the Seevers’ dining room table discussing how we can become Runnin’ for Rhett.
Q: You are very active in our pickleball community and have participated in a number of tournaments. What do you love most about pickleball, and what words of wisdom would you give someone who is considering giving it a try?
A: Runnin’ for Rhett’s motto is to Move Into Life. When pickleball was introduced to me, I was reluctant at first. When I finally decided to Move Into Life trying something new, I fell in love with it instantly! The pickleball community is great, and it’s a sport for everyone. Definitely try it!
Q: What was your favorite subject in school?
A: Math. I tend to be very analytical and math makes sense.
Q: What has been your most unusual or interesting job?
A: I’ve only had run-of-the-mill jobs, nothing exciting, but I’ve always wanted to be a bartender.
Q: How do you like to spend your free time?
A: Any hobbies of note, other than pickleball, of course? I enjoy watching sports and movies. I enjoy being around other people. And I love being in the presence of dogs. They make me very happy!
Q: What’s something most people don’t know about you?
A: I am a huge junk food junkie! If it’s full of sugar or bad for you, it’s on my list of things to eat. I truly believe my body is powered by junk food.
Q: What has been your proudest moment since being a part of the R4R family?
A: Because I have been around since the beginning, it has been simply amazing to see the growth and transformation R4R has made. It all started with one little boy and his two incredible parents. I am continually surprised at those who stop me when I’m wearing my baby blue and share their R4R story with me. This organization has touched so many lives. It warms my heart to be a part of something so positive and giving back to our communities and kids.
Q: If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
A: An onion. I have a lot of layers. I’m not saying I’m complex, quite the contrary actually, but I have a lot of different personalities I can transform to when necessary.
Q: How would you describe your Runnin’ for Rhett experience to a child?
A: Runnin’ for Rhett is an organization that YOU can be a part of. You will realize you can do anything you set your mind to and work hard for. You will learn there are support systems you can turn to when in need. Moving into life with exercise is good for everyone both physically and mentally.
