PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE

Weekly training plans for coaches and Rhett Reps working with the Youth Fitness Program.

COACH – PRE-SEASON

COACH INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Runnin’ for Rhett Youth Fitness Program. You are the key to the success of our Youth Fitness Program at your school. Thank you for giving your time and talents to help nearly 4,000 children Move Into Life.

COACH ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main role as a Coach is to facilitate the workouts and promote Runnin’ for Rhett at your school. During the 6-week training period, which includes RACE WEEK, you will:

  • Participate in at least two training sessions per week.
  • Ensure parents complete student registrations by November 1. Confirm data by November 5.
  • Facilitate or support the 5K on Saturday, December 7, 2024 (OR a virtual 5K, if needed).
  • Have fun with your students.

WORKING WITH YOUR RHETT REP

  • You may be partnering with the R4R Youth Fitness Rhett Rep responsible for your school. Your Rhett Rep will work with you to identify how they can help with the weekly training sessions.
  • Your Rhett Rep may be able to assist with the following: encourage and cheer on students, man/run a station during training, help keep track of laps with the scanning app, lead a game or other activity during training, share race etiquette with students, take pictures to post to R4R Facebook page, help organize and pass out shirts and bibs, or share info with coach and parents about the R4R Adult Fitness Program and volunteering opportunities.

TOOLS FOR A TERRIFIC EXPERIENCE

All materials to support your responsibilities will be available to you online at runninforrhett.org under the Youth Fitness Menu.

  • A weekly email will be sent to you each Thursday during the program. The email will contain links to the upcoming week’s materials and any important messages or updates.
  • Please review weekly materials carefully so you can be prepared for your experience with the children.

RHETT REP – PRE-SEASON

RHETT REP INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Runnin’ for Rhett Youth Fitness Program. You are providing invaluable support to the Youth Fitness Program at your assigned school. Thank you for giving your time and talents to help nearly 4,000 children Move Into Life.

RHETT REP ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your main role as a Rhett Rep is to support the workouts and promote Runnin’ for Rhett at your assigned school. During the 6-week training period, which includes RACE WEEK, you will:

  • Participate in at least one training session per week.
  • Support the coach by cheering on the students, doing the workout with the students, and/or presenting the Rhett Connection and Nutrition Lesson.
  • Attend the 5K on December 7, 2024 (OR a virtual 5K, if needed).
  • Have fun with the students.

WORKING WITH YOUR COACH

  • Your Coach will work with you to identify how they can help with the weekly training sessions.
  • Make sure you communicate ahead of time which days of the week you will be attending workouts. Exchange email and phone number contacts.

PREP WEEKS 1 and 2

COACH – PREP WEEKS 1-2

TO-DO CHECKLIST
  • Watch Rhett’s Story.
  • Determine how you will facilitate training (in person, virtual, combined).
  • Determine the two days and the time you will train per week. Let Larisa know if they’re different than your application.
  • Set up a school assembly (virtual or in person) or present the video here.
  • Edit and send out School Program Information. ENGLISH, SPANISH, CHINESE (Includes link to online permission slip ENGLISH, SPANISH, CHINESE)
  • OPTIONAL: If you believe you will have better success with paper forms, please print out and distribute the permission slips for parents to fill out and return. You will then enter the data online. Word Docs: ENGLISH, SPANISH, CHINESE
  • Review this Coach’s Guide.
  • Get set up on Run Club by logging in on a desktop and phone. See video tutorials here.
  • Determine the size of your school’s track. If it is different than 1/4 mile, let Michele know.
  • Determine how you will assign and manage chips. Enter student data in Run Club as permission slips come in.
  • Review the OPTIONAL Ribbon Incentive Program.

RHETT REP – PREP WEEKS 1-2

TO-DO CHECKLIST
  • Make sure you know which workouts you will be attending this season. Confirm ahead of time if you will be out of town or if there will be a school closure for holidays, staff development, etc
