WEEK 1 SCHEDULE

COACH

TASKS FOR THE WEEK

  • School Program Information Flyer: Send the flyer home to parents to introduce the Youth Fitness Program. Flyer is located in the Quick Links section.
  • Encourage Parent Permission Slips/Student Registration: Provide parents with several registration options: QR Code Flyer, Online Registration Link, or Word Document. Refer to the Quick Links section.
    Important: If you use the Word document, you will need to manually enter each student’s information into RunSignUp.
  • Distribute MOVE INTO LIFE Wristbands: Give a silicone MOVE INTO LIFE wristband to every participating student.
  • Track Student Laps: Record laps using Run Club chips or enter laps manually.
  • Review Training Pointers: Discuss the R4R Youth Fitness Training Pointers with students to help reinforce safe and successful training.
  • Optional Ribbon Incentive Program: Coaches may use ribbons to recognize and motivate students throughout the program. The Ribbon Request Form is located in the Quick Links section.

TRAINING PLAN & RESOURCES

DAY ONE
Dynamic Warm-Up + Run
Warm-Up (5-7 Minutes)
  • Easy Jog- 2 Minutes
  • Arm Circles- 10 Forward/10 Backward
  • High Knees- 20 Seconds
  • Butt Kicks-  20 Seconds
  • Side Shuffles-  20 Seconds Each Direction
  • Walking Lunges- 8 Each Leg
Run (15 Minutes)
  • Run at an easy, comfortable pace. Walking breaks are good. Encourage students to find a pace they can maintain the 15 minutes.
Cooldown:
  • 2-3 minutes easy walking
DAY TWO
Fun Warm-Up + Run
Warm-Up Red Light, Green Light (5-7 Minutes)
  • Green Light- Jog
  • Yellow Light- Walk
  • Red Light- Freeze
  • Blue Light-  High Knees
  • Purple Light-  Butt Kicks
Run (15 Minutes)
  • Finish with 2 short, controlled strides
Cooldown:
  • 2-3 minutes easy walking
DAY THREE
Subway Tag Game
Focus: Agility-Speed-Reaction-Cardio
  • Students find a partner and play Rock, Paper, Scissors. The loser is the ‘Tagger’
  • The Tagger spins around 3 Times while the Runner gets a head start.
  • When tagged, partners play Rock, Paper, Scissors again and Repeat
  • Every 90 Seconds, call FREEZE and have everyone find a NEW partner
  • Safety: Keep heads up, use Gentle Tags, and watch for other runners

Cooldown:
  • 2-3 minutes easy walking
RAINY DAY/ LIMITED SPACE/INDOOR GAME
Deck of Fitness:

Coaches will go thru the card deck and yell out instruction to students according which card is drawn from the deck.

  • Hearts= High Knees
  • Diamonds=Squats
  • Clubs=Jumping Jacks
  • Spades= Mountain Climbers Card Number= Repetitions
  • Face Cards= 30 Seconds Running in Place
  • Ace- Coach’s Choice
RHETT CONNECTION (Present if you do not have a RHETT REP)

Week 1 – Rhett Connection video: This video includes Rhett’s Story and program info. Send the link or play the video for your students. If you’d like a visual, you can show this picture of Beth and Rhett on the day he was born.

RHETT REP – WEEK 1

BEFORE YOU GO
  • Watch Rhett’s Story
  • Contact your coach to discuss the activities you will be presenting/providing assistance with, and where to meet.
MATERIALS NEEDED
WHAT TO DO
  • Report to the school office, introduce yourself and let them know you are going to be on campus.
  • Meet your coach at the designated training area.
  • RHETT CONNECTION: Share Rhett’s Story with the group.
  • Pass out the wristbands to children.
  • Complete other activities as agreed upon with the coach for the session.
  • Hand out weekly incentive awards. Decide with coach ahead of time reason for giving award to child (listening, working hard, etc.)
  • Confirm with coach which day(s) you will be there the following week.
