RACE WEEK SCHEDULE

Weekly training plans for coaches and Rhett Reps working with the Youth Fitness Program.

COACH – RACE WEEK

TASKS FOR THE WEEK

  • Customize and then send out Parent Race Day Note (Refer to Quick Links)  Print out Parking Map ( Refer to Quick Links)  and the Sacramento RYDE Free RT instructions to parents ( Refer to Quick Links) . NOTE: Feel free to edit the Race Day Note document before distributing it if your school or site has specific plans for how students are running the race.
  • Corral/Section Assignments:
    • Corral #1 ( 40 ft from Start Line) : Fast General Public Runners, Fast School Runners
    • Corral #2: School Signs in alphabetical order (A-Z)  Schools that start with A, closest to the START Line
  • Pick up shirts and bibs on December 2nd  in Elk Grove, Sacramento, or Granite Bay. Let us know which location you choose by 12:00pm, on November 20th
  • Distribute shirts and bibs to students and staff/family/friends.
  • Continue tracking laps using the Run Club app.
  • Optional Ribbon Incentive Program Form: If you are participating in this program, make sure students are tracking miles and you are submitting for ribbons. ** Submit a request by November 20th to receive ribbons with shirts and bibs on December 2nd**
PACKET PICK UP INFORMATION

School coaches can pick up race shirts and bibs on December  2, 3, 4 at one of these three locations:

  1. Starting at 4pm on December 2 @ R4R Headquarters in Elk Grove (5117 Worcester Way, EG)
  2. Starting at 8pm on December 2 @ Program Director, Larisa’s house in Granite Bay (5602 Cameron Creek Court, GB)
  3. Starting at 7:30pm on December 2 @ Youth Fitness Director, Michele’s house in Sacramento (in South Land Park )

Please make arrangements with Michele if none of the locations work for you. Parents/siblings who registered before November 20th will receive their bib and shirt from the coach. Registrants after November 20th will get their shirts and bibs on Race Day at the Shirt/Bib Pick Up tent.

Q: Can I pick up the bibs for parents and siblings at my school?

A: Yes (only for those who registered before November 20th).

Q: What if one of my students didn’t register as part of the program?

A: They can still register through December 5th, but will need to pick up their bib and shirt on Race Day at the Shirt/Bib Pick Up tent.

Q: One of my parents wants a shirt and medal. What should I tell them?

A: Tell them to register for the race online at this link.

RHETT CONNECTION

Race Week – Rhett Connection video: This video talks about reasons to race including connections with friends, race swag, and tracking your metrics. Send the link or play the video for your students.

RHETT REP – RACE WEEK

RACE DAY: SUNDAY, April 27th, 2025

BEFORE YOU GO
  • Contact your coach to discuss the activities you will be presenting/providing assistance with, and where to meet.
MATERIALS NEEDED
  • Wear your Runnin’ for Rhett t-shirt!
  • Rhett Connection: WHY WE RUN (included below) Optional: Bring poster board(s) and multiple Sharpies/crayons, etc.
  • Incentive items
  • Your enthusiasm!
WHAT TO DO
  • Share the RHETT CONNECTION for the week: WHY WE RUN: Share why you run and ask the kids why they run. (Have them write the answers on the poster board if you chose to bring one.)
  • Encourage participants to attend the 5K race.
  • Click here for race day information – registration link, course map, Regional Transit information and ticket.
  • Complete other activities as agreed upon with the coach for the session.

Hand out weekly incentive awards. Decide with coach ahead of time reason for giving the award to the child: listening, working hard, etc.
